What To Expect
It can be intimidating to visit a new church. What will they be wearing? How do they worship? Will I be welcome? At Park Meadows, we understand the questions and feelings that surround your first visit to a new place. We make every effort to make you feel welcome and right at home from the moment you first arrive and every time you return.
Park Meadows Baptist Church is a place where you’ll find:
- Friendly, Caring People
- Clear Answers From God’s Word
- Great Worship Through Godly Music
- A Quality Nursery and Children’s Programs
- An Exciting Youth Group
Our message comes simply from the Word of God, as we apply His unchanging truth in verse by verse study of the Bible. Drop in sometime and see!
If you have not been to a church before, or it has been a long time, you may be asking yourself what you will encounter if you decide to join us at one of our services. We have designed this page in an attempt to answer some of the more common questions about what you can expect. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and “at home.” Here are a few answers to your questions and what you might expect on your first visit.
Where Do I Go When I Arrive?
We have special parking for you located at the front of our main building. We invite you to use this preferred parking that is designated by a sign that reads, “Reserved For First Time Attenders.”
If it is raining or if you want valet parking, please use our brick drive-through located on either side of the main building. We want your transition from the parking lot to the sanctuary to be as comfortable as possible.
After parking in our preferred parking, you can enter through either one of main entrances at the front and visit our Welcome Center. Here you will be greeted by some friendly faces who will give you a visitor’s packet containing helpful information about the church and your visit here.
Members of our Welcome Team will help guide you to your seat in our spacious sanctuary. We have a First Time Attenders Card inside your visitor’s packet that we hope you will fill out after being seated.
Do I Have To Stand Up In Front Of People?
Some churches, with good intentions, ask visitors to stand up and introduce themselves in front of everyone. While we applaud their desire to know you better, we do things a bit differently at PMBC. We believe that you will be more comfortable meeting a few people who are seated around you and who are genuinely interested in getting to know you better rather than introducing yourself to hundreds of people but not really meeting anyone.
One of our main goals for every Sunday service is for people to be able to connect with God and with each other. Near the beginning of most of our meetings, we provide a few moments for people to meet and chat with one another. In that way, genuine friendships can begin in brief conversations. Sometimes we even take the chance to greet each other during one of the songs.
What Is The Morning Schedule?
Today’s society is fast-paced. People are working longer and longer hours. It’s increasingly becoming more and more difficult for many people to participate in meetings of the church on a Sunday morning. However, we still believe it is important to start out our week by setting that day aside from the distractions of daily life, and focusing on the things we can learn from the Bible. We are also told in the Bible that Christians should not forsake the fellowship of believers. The best place for that fellowship to occur is church.
With that in mind, the folks who make up Park Meadows Baptist meet together on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Following the Sunday Morning Bible Study, we have our worship service, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
Are There Services At Other Times?
Yes. We have a Sunday evening service (completely different from Sunday morning) that begins at 6:00 p.m. Again, in this service you’ll enjoy the choir and special music as well as a challenging and helpful message from the pastor. We also meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. for our mid-week Bible Study. If you can’t be our guest on Sunday morning, we hope you’ll visit with us during another service time.
Am I Expected To Participate In The Offering?
In a word, “No.” We don’t invite you to Park Meadows Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. Please don’t feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest. All we would like for you to put in the plate is your First Time Attenders card so that we might have a record of your visit.
The folks who are a regular part of our community voluntarily give to help support Park Meadows Baptist Church and to help pay various expenses we incur as a community.
How Should I Dress?
The rule of thumb at Park Meadows Baptist Church is simply to come in modest attire. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at Park Meadows Baptist!
Do I Have To Turn My Kids Over To A Stranger?
Starting with excellent nurseries, there is something special for every age child. We offer a fun, exciting program for children, and we’re confident that your kids would have a great time if they were to participate.
At the same time, we certainly understand why you would want to check us out before allowing your kids to go to a separate part of the facility to participate in our children’s program.
At every service on Sunday morning there are safe, clean, and highly staffed nurseries for children two years old and under. For the infants, parents will receive a pager so that the nursery attendants can easily contact you if there is a need. For children three years old through sixth grade there are fun, friendly, and Bible-centered classes. These classes are staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. For students seventh grade through college age, there are graded Bible study classes in our student ministries. Most of the teens attend a Bible study class one hour and then a worship service another hour with their parents.
I Have More Questions!
If there’s something we missed on this list, just give us a call, or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you’re new to the area and looking for a church home, or if it’s been a long time since you’ve attended church at all, we hope your first visit at Park Meadows Baptist will be great! We exist to serve you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you’ll feel right at home from the very first moment you step through our doors! Let us know how we can serve you better, and we hope to meet you this Sunday!
